Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is known for his impeccable timing with the bat. The veteran Indian star batter has been known to be one of the funniest players on the field. 

During an appearance on the famous Kapil Sharma show earlier this year, the ace comedian asked Rohit about his stump mic moments. The Indian skipper had laughed at the question and said that since he stands near the Stump Mic and all his comments get picked up. 

Be it his own teammates the opposition or sometimes even the umpires, Rohit Sharma never spares anyone with his funny antics. The Indian ODI and Test skipper has found a new fan base just on the basis of his stump mic moments. 

Here are the five times when Rohit Sharma was heard trolling on the stump mic

5- Angry skipper’s ‘Woh’ moment vs England 

The right-handed batter is known to use the word ‘Woh’ a lot. The usage of this term has become a huge internet sensation. During the Test series earlier this year a classic moment was caught on the stump mic. At the end of an over from Mohammed Siraj, a visibly irate Rohit could be heard saying “Jaldi se mangao ball yaar. Hum log teen over piche hai. Agar yeh log all out ho gaye na hum logon ko woh lagega” (Get the ball quickly, we are already three overs behind (on over-rate). If they are bowled out we will have to pay ‘That’)

4- Asking Yuzvendra Chahal to show energy vs West Indies 

India had just come back from after the loss to England in the Semi-Finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup. Their first assignment was at home against West Indies. During one of the T20I matches, Rohit Sharma was seen giving a elder brotherly rap to Yuzvendra Chahal. On seeing the Indian bowler not being energetic enough, the Indian skipper could be heard saying “Ek kaam kar piche jaa, Idhar aaa. Kya hua tereko bhag kyu nahi raha theek se? Chal Udhar Bhag” (Do one thing go back a bit. What’s wrong with you? Why aren’t you running properly? Start running). 

3- Trolling Ben Duckett like a boss vs England

England opening batter Ben Duckett was a constant thorn in the flesh of the Indian bowlers. The left-handed batter was in spirits once again during a Test match where he was attacking the Indian bowlers. Guessing that he needed to get involved, Rohit Sharma walked past applying sweat onto the ball. That’s when the stump mic heard the Indian star say “Isko bolna IPL Auction ho gaya katam” (tell him the IPL Auction is over). The hilarious moment had the commentators and fans in splits. 

2- Having a go at Dinesh Karthik during IPL 2024 vs RCB 

Mumbai Indians didn’t have a great IPL 2024 as they finished bottom of the table. Rohit Sharma endured a miserable season as he was stripped of his captaincy which caused a huge controversy. During the game between MI and RCB, Dinesh Karthik had just come out to bat. The former Indian star was in good form and there were talks of possible comeback to the team. As soon as Karthik came out to bat, Rohit was heard saying “World Cup ke selection ke liye Push karna hai isko, Shabash, dimag main chal raha hai iske World Cup” (he is pushing for a spot in the team for the World Cup, it’s in his head)

1- Funny chat with the umpire during T20I vs Afghanistan 

Afghanistan had toured India for a three match T20I series. Rohit Sharma was out for a duck in the opening two games. The final game of the series was played in Bengaluru and the Indian skipper felt he had got off the mark. On realizing he was still on 0, Rohit said to umpire Virender Sharma “Arey Viru thigh pad diya kya pehla ball, itna bada bat laga hai bhai, ek toh idhar zero ho gaya hai” (hey Viru did you give the first ball as thigh pad, there was a huge edge. I have already two zeros in the series). Rohit went onto score an unbeaten century which was his last in the format. The game was won by India after two super overs to take the series 3-0.
