The one-off Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand has landed in huge trouble as the first day of the game got called off due to a wet outfield. Moreover, the second day was also abandoned since the ground staff hadn't been able to retrieve the outfield even after trying with various props. The players waited for the game to start on the first day, but seeing the ground's condition, they didn't visit the field on day two.

The controversy started after Afghanistan players showed disappointment towards the ground's condition and the facilities provided by the support staff. However, in a recent development, it was confirmed that BCCI gave Afghanistan three options to conduct the match, but they chose Greater Noida since the connectivity was good and the players didn't have to travel much.

"Kanpur, Bengaluru and Greater Noida were the three venues offered by the BCCI, and we chose Greater Noida because it's closer to Delhi and connectivity from Kabul is better," said ACB official Mehnazuddin Raz Khan.

Hopefully, we will get one good venue here in India: Afghanistan skipper Hasmatullah Shahidi

Afghanistan skipper Hasmatullah Shahidi lashed out at BCCI for providing a ground with bad conditions. He was quite upset with the support staff and how the ground was managed. As per the skipper, they are hoping for a better venue the next time they visit India since a lot of nations have played games there and have better experiences.

The Afghan skipper said, “If you see, India is our home and when we host teams, the other nations have played more cricket than us here. So hopefully, we will get one good venue here in India and we stick with that. If we stick with one venue, it will be more effective for us.”
