Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the Mumbai Indians (MI) for the Indian Premier League (IPL), as the team shared a video on social media on Sunday. His son, Angad Bumrah, and wife, Sanjana Ganesan, were featured in the video. In that video, Sanjana narrates the story of Jasprit Bumrah to Angad.
“Let me tell you a story. In 2013, there was a cub who entered this jungle, a jungle full of runs. Sixers and boundaries. Where everyone was scared. He showed courage over the years. He fought many battles. He fought for survival. He fought for his pride. He won, he lost, but never gave up. These battles left him with scars. But these scars didn’t stop him. Once a cub, now a lion, and the lion is back. He is back to be the king of this jungle again," Sanjana said in the video.

MI posted a social media video titled "Ready to Roar" to mark Jasprit Bumrah's return to the camp. Although the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) medical staff has given him the all-clear to play, Bumrah is not expected to play in MI's match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Jasprit Bumrah is anticipated to make a comeback to the starting lineup against Delhi Capitals. Bumrah's absence has made it difficult for Mumbai to start their campaign well. The five-time winners have suffered three defeats in four games. At Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium on Friday, MI lost to the Lucknow Super Giants by a score of 203. Even with Hardik Pandya's heroics throughout the game, MI missed the total by 12 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah missed lot of cricket due to injury
At the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, Jasprit Bumrah was recovering from back surgery following a heavy bowling effort in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Subsequently, he was absent from India's successful Champions Trophy run. Bumrah has been out since the Sydney Test in January of this year and is reportedly at risk of getting a stress fracture of his back.
Jasprit Bumrah has played in 133 IPL games and picked 165 wickets. Bumrah sustained a back problem that kept him out of the 2023 season. In the IPL mega auction, Mumbai Indians have retained Bumrah for INR 18 crore. With Bumrah joining the team, it will help to boost the team spirit of Mumbai Indians.
