The five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians (MI), played their second match of the ongoing season against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 29. After missing out on the first game, MI’s regular skipper, Hardik Pandya, made his comeback, however, it didn’t make any difference as they lost their second game of the season.
Meanwhile, during the second innings of the match, MI’s star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, suffered an injury scare while batting. During the 14th over of the innings, GT pacer Prasidh Krishna bowled a slower bouncer to Suryakumar. The batter tried to play his unusual, unorthodox shot, but the ball took the bat’s outer edge and hit his helmet, after which he fell on the ground. GT players and physios from the MI camp rushed towards Yadav to check whether he was okay or not. His wife Devisha also looked worried after watching him fall on the ground.

Brilliant all-round performance by Gujarat Titans
Talking about the match, MI won the toss and asked GT to put a target on the scoreboard. However, the decision didn't really go well for the Hardik Pandya-led side as GT openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan continued their great form, providing a great start to the team. They stitched a 78-run stand for the first wicket. Later, Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford displayed some big hits, helping the team to put up a 196-run total.
Skipper Hardik Pandya was the best bowler for MI, taking two wickets and conceding only 29 runs in his four-over quota. The target looked achievable considering the star-studded batting lineup of MI. However, things didn't go well for them in the second innings as well. They lost their openers, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, cheaply inside the powerplay.
Suryakumar and Tilak Varma steadied the ship later, but the required run-rate was increasing constantly, which put pressure on them, and they ended up throwing their wickets. No other batters could contribute anything as MI were restricted to just 160 runs, losing the match by 36 runs.
