Former England pacer Stuart Broad was given a huge honor ahead of the 2nd Test between England and West Indies. England Cricket Board decided to name one of the stands after the former England pacer.

The unveiling was done ahead of the first day’s play just before the toss. The former England pacer was flanked by his father Chris Broad as the father and son duo looked proud.

Stuart Broad had retired at the end of the 2023 Ashes having picked 604 Test wickets. Hew formed a great partnership with James Anderson for over a decade before Anderson called time on his cricketing career after the 1st Test at Lord’s last week.

Stuart Broad shares his excitement post the honor

Just a day before the Stuart Broad end could be unveiled, the former England pacer took to X and wrote “A huge honor at one of my favorite places in the world”. Stuart Broad famously took 8/15 to bowl out Australia for 60 during the 2015 Ashes series.

It was a great bowling performance as the then 29-year-old ran through the ODI World Cup winners dangerous batting unit. It was against the same opposition that Broad picked his final 2 Test wickets of his career before retiring in Oval.

Father Chris Broad said “I'm delighted that the Nottinghamshire Committee decided that Stuart should be remembered in this way. To have an end named after him is a complete delight. It was quite surreal, the first time I visited Trent Bridge this year, to hear the announcement that the bowler was bowling from the Stuart Broad End.

An emotional Chris Broad also said “I took a picture of the scoreboard and sent it to Stuart, and he was a little bit emotional seeing his name up there. I'm so proud and privileged to see him being given that honour."

England Cricket Team went into Lunch on the first day with 134/2 coming from 26 overs. Zak Crawley fell to Alzarri Joseph for a duck before Ben Duckett came unglued as the home team reached their 50 inside 5 overs.

Ben Duckett scored his fifty off just 32 balls as he became one of the fastest half-centuries makers for England in Test Cricket. The second wicket stand with Ollie Pope was worth 105 runs that came off 111 balls.

The stand was broken by Shamar Joseph who dismissed Ben Duckett for 71 runs off 59 balls with 14 fours. At Lunch, Ollie Pope was batting on 47 runs from 75 balls with five boundaries and a six. Joe Root had faced 20 balls for his 13 runs and had hit 2 fours to see the session off for his side.
