WATCH: Star England pacer James Anderson's last words after retiring from international cricket

With the victory against West Indies and four wickets in the two innings, James Anderson bid farewell to the sport at the age of 41.

England's prolific bowler, James Anderson, has retired from international cricket. He played his last Test match against West Indies at the iconic Lord's Stadium in London. He made his Test debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe and now has retired as the highest wicket-taker in England. With the victory against West Indies and four wickets in the two innings, Anderson bid farewell to the sport at the age of 41.

While talking to Nasser Hussain after the match, Anderson gave an emotional speech talking about how he felt after playing cricket for 21 years and how he's dealing with retirement. 

England won the Test match by an inning and 114 runs due to West Indies' batting failure. Anderson got only one wicket in the first innings, while in the second innings, he claimed three wickets. Moreover, Gus Atkinson got seven wickets in the first innings and five in the second. It was a dream match for Atkinson, as he was given the Player of the Match award.

After a marvellous career, James Anderson finally retired from international cricket after 21 years. At the post-match presentation, he confirmed that he was going to stay with the team as their bowling consultant. He also added that he hasn't planned the future yet and will decide once the series is over.

"I have not really thought that far ahead. I'm gonna stick around for the rest of the summer with these guys, try and help the bowling group out as much as I can and we will see where life takes us after that. I have not looked that far ahead," said Anderson at the post-match presentation.
