New Zealand set India a target of 147 to win the third and final Test match in Mumbai. The home team were reduced to 29/5 with Ajaz Patel leading the stellar show with the ball in hand as he got rid of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli to leave the hosts reeling. Glenn Phillips then went on to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal to put the hosts in trouble.

Shubman Gill was batting on 1 when he was facing Ajaz Patel in the final ball of the 4th over. The 25-year-old decided to shoulder arms thinking the ball was going to spin away. Ajaz though bowled a straighter ball which went on to disturb the off stump. It was a huge wicket for the Kiwis because Gill had scored 90 in the first innings of the game.

Ravindra Jadeja got his second fifer of the game and completed ten wickets in the match. The 35-year-old got the last wicket of Ajaz Patel for 8 caught by Akash Deep. New Zealand were bowled out for 174 with an overall lead of 146.

Team India succumbs to spin yet again

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came out to bat needing 147 to avoid a series whitewash. Indian skipper made his intentions clear as he came down the track to hit Matt Henry for a boundary to get things going.

The Kiwi pacer had the last laugh as he had Rohit caught by Glenn Phillips for 11. This was the second time this game that Henry had dismissed Rohit. India’s skipper's decision to use aggression didn’t pay off as the Kiwis celebrated the early wicket.

Virat Kohli played across the wrong line as the ball got a leading edge and Daryl Mitchell completed an easy catch. This gave Patel his second wicket of the day as Kohli was back in the hut for just 1 run. Glenn Phillips then dismissed Jaiswal for five as the Indian opener was adjudged LBW.

The left-arm spinner then got the wicket of Sarfaraz Khan for 1 to leave India at 29/5. Sarfaraz Khan went for a slog sweep and didn’t time the ball well. Rachin Ravindra took an easy catch as the home crowd were left in complete stunned silence.
