On Day 2 of the ongoing 3rd match of the Duleep Trophy 2024, an unexpected dismissal occurred when the skipper of India D, Shreyas Iyer, came into attack to bowl his first over. On the very first ball, he dismissed set batter Mayank Agarwal of Team India A, who was stunned and disappointed by his dismissal. Agarwal, who was batting on 56 runs off 87 balls, looked settled along with his opening partner Pratham Singh, who was also batting on 59 runs off 82 balls.

Iyer proved to be the man with the golden arm as he went on to get the important breakthrough for Team India D. After 28 overs of constant struggle, Team D finally got a wicket, but from a player who is not a regular bowler. It was a soft dismissal as Iyer took a brilliant catch on his own bowling when the ball came straight to him. With a high-arm action, Iyer distracted Mayank as couldn't time the shot properly.

Watch the dismissal here:

The ball hit the toe end of the bat and went to Iyer, who lay low to take the catch. The ball was dripping on the ground, but being a brilliant fielder, Iyer managed to get his hands under the ball right on time and with this wicket, the day ended. Team India A built a good partnership of 115 runs between the openers but eventually lost the first wicket.

Prasidh Krishna stops Devdatt Padikkal from scoring ton

He was playing brilliantly before Krishna bowled a back-of-a-length delivery, the ball tricked Padikkal to play a drive shot, but it edged the bat and went to Kushagra, who was waiting for the ball in the 1st slip.

He was the standout batter for Team India A, while all the others threw away their wicket. Moreover, Harshit Rana hit two beautiful sixes at the end of the innings and scored 31 runs off 29 balls, including four boundaries. Team India A are leading by 222 runs, and are dominating the match pretty well.
