Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowlers made a terrific comeback to their Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Delhi Capitals (DC). At one stage, Abhishek Porel had led the charge early in the innings as he scored 23 runs off the second over bowled by Tushar Deshpande. KL Rahul came out to bat at number four and began by hitting Deshpande for a huge six to showcase his amazing batting in this campaign.

Sanju Samson brought Jofra Archer to bowl his second spell after an impressive start with the ball. The English seamer bowled a short ball that induced a pull shot off Rahul’s bat. The 32-year-old couldn’t time the ball well as Shimron Hetmyer dove in front to take a neat catch; Rahul was out after scoring 38 runs from 32 balls with two boundaries and two sixes.

Jake Fraser-McGurk hit Jofra Archer for two fours to get going with the bat in the first over of the game. Abhishek Porel then hit Tushar Deshpande for three fours and a six in the second over of the game. Yashasvi Jaiswal hung to an easy catch to give Archer his first wicket as McGurk was dismissed for just nine runs.

Rajasthan Royals bowlers rock DC with regular wickets

Karun Nair was run-out for a duck as Sandeep Sharma kept his cool to thrown down the stumps. Rahul and Porel then steadied the ship with a stand of 63 runs for the third wicket which came in 57 balls. Archer would have added yet another wicket to his tally when he bowled a short ball to Porel who tried to hit it over Samson’s head.

RR skipper though didn’t opt to use the DRS but the replays then showed that there was a clear spike on the bat. That miss didn’t bother much as Porel was out for 49 runs caught by Riyan Parag off Wanindu Hasaranga. Porel’s knock came off 37 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six.

Skipper Axar Patel came out all guns blazing as he scored 34 off 14 balls with four boundaries and two sixes. Maheesh Theekshana ended the dangerous innings when Patel was caught by Dhruv Jurel in the final ball of the 17th over. Delhi Capitals ended their innings on a high thanks to Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma and ended with a score of 188 for the loss of five wickets.
