Pakistan end their T20 World Cup with close win

Florida finally saw some cricketing action as Pakistan took on Ireland. It was a match which had no consequence with both sides having already been knocked out of the tournament.

Having put into bat, Ireland were reeling at 32 for 6 in the 7th over thanks to the amazing performance by the Pakistani seamers. Shaheen Afridi struck twice in the first over to remove Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker. Skipper Paul Stirling was then dismissed by Mohammad Amir caught by Rizwan for 1.

Shaheen Afridi then dismissed Harry Tector for a duck while Amir got his 2nd in the form of Dockrell for 11. Ireland came back into the contest thanks to Gareth Delaney who scored 31 and Joshua Little with 22 runs. Those contributions meant that Ireland ended their innings with a decent looking 106.

Mark Adair struck the first blow for Pakistan when he had Saim Ayub out for 17. Mohammad Rizwan was also out for 17 when he fell to Barry McCarthy. Wickets fell at regular intervals as Babar Azam held onto one end while the Irish bowlers kept the pressure on the batters. In the end Pakistan won by 3 wickets and with 7 balls to spare as they now go home to reflect on a tournament gone horribly wrong.
