Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) played their final game of the IPL 2025 season on Monday night. The winner of the game were confirmed to end their league phase season as one of the top two sides in the league table. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma gave MI solid start with the bat scoring 52 for one after six overs.

Rickelton, who is playing his final game of the season played a forceful pick up shot to show his amazing form this season. Kyle Jamieson delivered the ball in the perfect slot and Rickelton didn’t need a second invite. The batter played the lofted pick up shot for four runs as MI batters got off to decent start. 

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl as Jamieson and Vijaykumar Vyshak came into the playing XI. For MI, left-arm pacer Ashwani Kumar was included the team for the final game of the season. MI are coming into the game on the back of win over Delhi while PBKS lost the previous encounter to Faf du Plessis’ side. 

Huge points at stake in PBKS vs MI encounter 

Arshdeep Singh bowled the first over of the game and gave away just eight runs. This included the first boundary of the game scored by Rickelton in the fourth ball of the over. Rohit Sharma struggled to time the ball early in the game and this meant that Rickelton had to do bulk of scoring for his side. 

The former MI skipper finally got going with a boundary in the final ball of the third over bowled by Marco Jansen. There was no stopping the South African wicketkeeper and batter as he hit two more fours in the fourth over of the innings which was bowled by Arshdeep Singh. 

Harpreet Brar was given the ball in the fifth over and this is where Rohit Sharma decided to break the shackles. The 38-year-old hit the left-arm spinner for the first six of the innings and then followed it up with a boundary. In the first ball of the sixth over, Jansen got the wicket of Rickelton caught by Shreyas Iyer for 27 runs off 20 balls.
