Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a massive margin of 100 runs in the IPL 2025 game on Thursday night. This win has now put MI on top of the table and the former champions are just one step away from confirming their place in the playoffs. Former skipper Rohit Sharma, who celebrated his 38th birthday on Wednesday, gave his fans a belated birthday gift with his 36-ball 53 against RR.
Former MI pacer Akash Madhwal made his IPL debut for RR against his former side. The 31-year-old bowled four overs and went wicketless for 39 runs. Madhwal has constantly spoken about his admiration for Rohit Sharma and his time with the Mumbai Indians. After the game ended, Madhwal could be seen interacting with Rohit in what was a wholesome moment.
The 31-year-old seamer could be seen handing his former MI skipper a pen to sign his shirt. Rohit was quick to oblige and signed the shirt as the duo were seen walking off the field together. What made the moment more special was that Rohit could be seen patting the seamer on his back to applaud his efforts. In another video, Rohit and Madhwal could be seen chatting on the sidelines. Rohit waved towards his wife Ritika and Madhwal could also be seen extending his warm greetings.

Adam Gilchrist heaps praise on Jasprit Bumrah
Indian seamer Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets in successive balls to dent RR’s batting during the second innings. Bumrah first got the wicket of Riyan Parag caught by Rohit Sharma, and in the very next ball, got the wicket of Shimron Hetmyer. The West Indian batter played a ferocious pull shot which was snapped by Suryakumar Yadav.
Former Australian legendary wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist, who was speaking about the game on Cricbuzz, made a huge statement about Bumrah. Gilchrist said, “He's maybe the best bowler, fast bowler, of all time. When you start stacking up the statistics and the varying conditions that he has to go out and execute those skills in, I guess you look at Sir Donald Bradman's numbers compared to his peers and he's just so far ahead.”
The former Aussie great also added, “So I think Bumrah is sort of in that category across all the different variations that you get in conditions and pitches that you've got to bowl on. He's significantly further ahead than the peers around him, so that tells you we are truly watching greatness."
