Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma survived a close LBW call in the IPL 2025 game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The incident occurred in the fifth ball of Fazalhaq Farooqi’s opening over. The left-arm seamer beat Rohit with an incoming ball that the batter was shaping to play on the leg side. RR players went up in huge appeal and the umpire gave the batter out.

Rohit decided to have a word with his partner Ryan Rickelton and sent the decision for a review in the dying moments. Once the replays came on the big screen, it was seen that the ball was marginally pitching outside the leg stump. The TV umpire asked the on-field umpire to change his decision to not out. Rohit could be seen heaving a sigh of relief at the call.

Rajasthan Royals players, on the other hand, couldn’t believe the decision had gone against them. The bowler was seen staring at the big screen in complete shock. MI fans and team management, though, were happy that Rohit had survived the close call. Former MI batter had celebrated his 38th birthday on Wednesday and many fans will be hoping for a big score from the skipper. In the previous ball, Rohit had played a tremendous shot for a boundary to get going.

Must win game for Rajasthan Royals

Riyan Parag won the toss and bowled first as Wanindu Hasaranga and Sandeep Sharma were ruled out of the game. Hasaranga was out of the game with a niggle, while Sharma had suffered an injury to his finger. Rajasthan Royals’ hopes of playing the playoffs depend on this game, as a loss will knock them out of the campaign.

Eyes will be on Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored a 35-ball tonne in the last game. The 14-year-old has been the centre of attention since he became the youngest century maker in the IPL. Yashasvi Jaiswal will be another key batter for the home side as he enjoys a great record with the bat against the five-time IPL winners.
