Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is set to return to the field after a short break for the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka. The 37-year-old was recently toast of the nation having won the T20 World Cup and ending the wait for an ICC title.
Noted journalist Vimal Kumar recently posted a short video of Rohit Sharma where the veteran batter speaking at an event. During the event, Rohit Sharma was seen speaking about the three major moments of his career.
Speaking during the event, Rohit Sharma said, “It’s been a 17-year journey. here have been countless special moments along the way, from that first year in 2007, winning the World Cup, to the following year conquering the CB series in Australia.”
Rohit Sharma looking forward to new challenges
It will be a pleasant return for Rohit Sharma to the ODI format. His match in the fifty-over format was the ODI World Cup final versus Australia. The selectors have named Rohit Sharma as the skipper of the side where Team India will play three matches.
During the event, Rohit Sharma also said, “Naturally, there have been tough periods too. That’s the nature of a sportsperson’s career; there’s bound to be both ups and downs. But for me, it’s about cherishing all the highs I’ve experienced over these 17 years. And winning this World Cup (2024) definitely takes the top spot.”
Meanwhile, fresh details have emerged regarding a call that took place between Gautam Gambhir and Hardik Pandya. According to a BCCI official who spoke to Hindustan Times, said, “Hardik was also reminded by Gambhir on the call, that he was looking forward to see him bowl his full quota in ODIs.”
It is also learned that Gautam Gambhir has told Hardik Pandya to take part in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. The 30-year-old all-rounder his Mumbai Indians teammate named as the captain of the T20I side. It was a huge surprise considering that many felt that Hardik Pandya was the obvious choice for the role.
