Former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has broken his silence after Gautam Gambhir was appointed the national coach. The two stars haven’t seen eye-to-eye in the past and have clashed twice during the IPL, which has caused a lot of controversy.

According to a report carried by CRICBUZZ, it has come to light that Kohli is fully behind Gautam Gambhir. He has apparently told the BCCI that he will be ready to move on from past issues with Gautam Gambhir for the sake of the national team.

The former Indian skipper is part of the ODI team which is set to play three ODI matches in Sri Lanka. It was earlier reported that Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the series. At the insistence of Gautam Gambhir, the team will see Rohit Sharma lead the side and Virat Kohli bat at his favorite number 3 spot.

The report carried by CRICBUZZ mentioned that Virat Kohli is set to work with Gambhir for the sake of the team. The two seemed to have patched up earlier this year during the IPL 2024 edition.

During a chat Gambhir when asked about his equation with Virat Kohli had said, “The perception is far away from the reality. My relationship with Virat Kohli is something this country doesn't need to know. He has as much right as I do to express himself and help our respective teams win. Our relation is not to give masala to the public.”

Amit Mishra had recently said that the patch up between the two was initiated by Gautam Gambhir. The veteran India star had said that the bad blood occurred due to Kohli’s issues with Naveen-ul-Haq during the IPL 2023 game between LSG and RCB.

Speaking about the incident, Virat Kohli had said this during an event for PUMA, “People are very disappointed with my behaviour. I hugged Naveen, and then the other day, Gauti bhai [Gautam Gambhir came and hugged me. Your masala is over, so you're booing. We're not kids anymore.”
