Rohit Sharma, on Friday, was honoured by the Mumbai Cricket Association by naming a stand after him at the Wankhede Stadium. It was a huge deal for Rohit, his family, and legion of his fans on Friday. The 38-year-old, who enjoys a great relationship with his fans, was part of a hilarious moment. One fan named Dipak Patel was seen waving the Indian flag and was also spotted with Rohit Sharma on Friday at the Wankhede Stadium.

Just as the Indian ODI skipper was about to leave, Rohit turned around and threatened the fan with a mock punch. In the end, the video showed the fan shaking hands with the cricketer. Rohit Sharma was also seen having a stern word with his younger brother after spotting a dent in the car while escorting his parents.

The 38-year-old speaking during the event said, “Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who has come here to make this event so special. What is going to happen today? I never dreamt of it. As a kid growing up, wanting to play for Mumbai, for India, no one thinks about things like these. For me, it's like any other sportsman who wants to give their best. Serve the nation, the country, as much as possible.”

“For me to be honoured while I am playing makes it special. I have retired from two formats, but I am still playing one format. It'll be a surreal feeling when I come here and play on the 21st against the Delhi Capitals, representing the Mumbai Indians. It'll be a very special feeling,” further added Rohit Sharma

36-year-old seamer Ishant Sharma has thrown his weight behind Jasprit Bumrah to be named the next Test skipper. Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah are the leading candidates to be named the new Test captain after Rohit Sharma’s retirement last week. According to various reports, Gill is the leading candidate to be the new Test skipper. 

Ishant Sharma was quoted by News18 as saying, “If Bumrah is fit, I would say Bumrah. That’s the first choice. He is the only one who has so much experience. But if he won’t play all five Test matches, then obviously Shubman.” When asked to comment on Virat Kohli’s retirement, Ishant replied, “I think he is mature. He knows what he is doing.”
