India’s ODI cricket captain Rohit Sharma and his family witnessed a stand being inaugurated in the cricketers’ name on Friday. Rohit, along with his parents, brother, wife, and a few Mumbai Indians’ players, were present at the Wankhede Stadium for the event. Mumbai Indians posted a short video of several cricket stars wishing Rohit on the special day.
Not only MI players but also Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer and Kolkata Knight Riders coach Abhishek Nayar sent out their congratulations. Suryakumar Yadav was heard saying, “What can I say? Really happy.” This was followed by messages from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.
Abhishek Nayar, who shares a great bond with Rohit, said, “Back in 2011, sitting at your couch in Karma, I wouldn’t have imagined, one day there would be a Rohit Sharma stand at Wankhede”. Nayar was a veteran member of Mumbai’s team when Rohit made his domestic debut. The two also shared the dressing room recently, where Nayar was part of the backroom staff under head coach Gautam Gambhir.

But no, just congratulations! I'm sure there's a young boy going into the iconic Wankhede Stadium, truly one of the great stadiums in the world. I'm sure you would have loved to play there. I'm sure you would have wanted to have some great performances there, which you have done”.
