Vijaykumar Vyshak was tasked with the job of bowling the 19th over of the innings. The first ball of the over, was hit over the mid-off region for 72 meter six. In the next ball, Dhir hit the second six of the over this time over the mid-on region. Once the six was hit, former MI skipper Rohit Sharma was seen standing up and applauding.

After being put into bat, MI made a good start to the innings as Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma added yet another fifty run stand for the first wicket. Rickelton was out for 27 while Rohit was dismissed by Harpreet Brat for 24. Tilak Varma could only score one run as the left-handed batter was sent back to the hut by Vijaykumar Vyshak.

Suryakumar Yadav’s fifty helps MI reach competitive score

Will Jacks playing in his final game of the season before heading home scored brisk 17 off eight balls with two fours and a six. Vyshak got his second wicket when he had Jacks caught by Marco Jansen to leave MI at 106 for 4 in the 13th over. Hardik Pandya came out to bat and added 44 runs for the fifth wicket in 23 balls.

Pandya had been going through a lean patch with the bat since his sizzling innings against RCB earlier in the season. Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav had done well in the last game against Delhi Capitals with an unbeaten fifty plus stand. The duo were on course for an encore before Dhir was dismissed in the first ball of the final over by Arshdeep Singh.

Punjab Kings will have to chase 185 to win the game and confirm their spot at the top of the points table. Mumbai Indians will be depending on their bowlers to do the trick once again as match number 69 in IPL 2025 season is set to go down to the wire in Jaipur.
