Former England stars speaks on Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement

Moeen Ali who was part of Kolkata Knight Riders is one of the many overseas players who haven’t returned for rest of IPL 2025 season. The 37-year-old was a guest on a podcast called ‘Beard Before Wicket’ where he was asked to comment on Rohit’s Test retirement.

Former English player called Rohit a natural as he went onto explain, “Rohit was a more natural player in terms of, like, amazing to watch. Like a proper gift given to him. When I say natural, everything looks a lot smoother. He was a top player. There was a period of time where he was probably the most talented player in the world, naturally. Like probably didn't do the work in terms of fitness and stuff as Virat but still as effective. Would probably hit the ball further."

Rohit Sharma has scored 300 runs so far this campaign from 11 games with three fifties. The former MI skipper scored 76 not out against Chennai Super Kings and followed it up with 70 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Third fifty of the season came against Rajasthan Royals where Rohit scored 53 off 36 balls.
