Indian wicketkeeper and batter Rishabh Pant announced his return to Test cricket in fine style. The 26-year-old decided to have fun with the bat on the third day of the opening Test match in Chennai.

On the final ball of the 48th over, Hasan Mahmud saw Pant go on his knees. The Indian star went on to smash the pacer for a huge six over fine leg. What made the shot more special was that Pant played a lap sweep like it was a T20 game.

The shot was so good that the Indian dressing room especially Virat Kohli was left in shock. Both Shubman Gill and Pant were well past their fifties as the home team were in complete control of the game.

Adam Gilchrist praises Pant and calls him fearless

Former Australian great Adam Gilchrist was known to be aggressive with the bat. The legendary star was one of the main reasons why Australia became an aggressive team across formats. The veteran star had words of praise for Rishabh Pant during a chat with a website.

Adam Gilchrist recently spoke to Cricket.com and said “I reckon he attacks a bit more than I did. I played an aggressive brand at that time, but Rishabh, he looks fearless. What I do like is that he occasionally puts a foot on the brake and absorbs a bit of pressure. So he's a class act”

The former Aussie star also said, "He is, what you say, bums on seats and people pay money well and truly. I would happily pay money to watch him play cricket. So that's a great quality to have, I think, if people are acknowledging in that manner because he gets the results, he's a winner and a survivor, as we know. He's all class in everything he does. He's good fun, he's got the humour. He knows how to go about a very serious business in a fun way.”

It is to be noted that Rishabh Pant is making his comeback to Test cricket after more than 20 months. Indian star last played a Test match in December 2022 where he scored 93 during the 1st Innings of the 2nd Test match against Bangladesh. Cricket fans in India will be happy with the way Pant played especially with the tour of Australia coming up.
