India and Bangladesh got down to action in the first game of the two-match series in Chennai. The Bangladeshi bowlers had the Indian team in trouble by taking 6 wickets before Tea on the opening day. Team India went in with three seamers and two spinners, which meant that Kuldeep Yadav missed a spot in the playing XI.

Just as the teams were practising, Kuldeep Yadav was seen going through his paces. That’s when Virat Kohli pulled Kuldeep Yadav with a resistance band as Rishabh Pant grabbed Yadav’s legs. The Indian spinner was seen laughing at the prank pulled by Pant and Kohli.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja and R. Ashwin were chosen as the two lead spinners for the first Test match. The two veteran stars were in the middle when Tea was taken as the score read 176/6 from 48 overs. Home town hero Ashwin was batting on 21 off 19 balls, while Jadeja was on 7 off 17 balls.

Bangladeshi Fast bowlers wreak havoc with the bat

Not just the Indian team but also the Bangladeshi side went in with three pace bowlers. Hasan Mahmud was the best pacer as he destroyed the Indian top order. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were both out for 6, while Shubman Gill was out for a duck. Rishabh Pant who, was batting well on 39 became the 4th wicket for Mahmud post lunch.

Nahid Rana was seen bowling with rapid pace yet again as the youngster nearly breached the 150 KPH mark. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the only hero with the bat as he played well to score a half-century. KL Rahul on the other hand scored 16 before being snapped by Zakir Hasan off Mehidy Miraz.

Gautam Gambhir and Abhishek Nayar were seen with tense faces in the Indian dugout. It wasn’t the kind of start the Indian coaching duo would have expected. Bangladesh bowlers must be credited with the tight line and length they maintained against the Indian batting unit.

Team India just has Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj left in the hut. The onus will be on R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to post a decent total on the board. Veteran star Ashwin has come to score some brisk runs. His punch off the back foot against Nahid Rana is already the best shot of the day.
