Indian Cricket star Rishabh Pant is set to make his return to red-ball cricket for the first time since December 2022. The 26-year-old is about to mark his return to the format during the Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament. Rishabh Pant last played in the red-ball format during the tour of Bangladesh in 2022.

Rishabh Pant posted a short video of himself batting in nets on his Instagram handle. The Indian cricketer could be seen facing the net bowlers. Rishabh Pant played a few lofted and a few defensive shots as well.

The youngster then took on some spinners as he played a few innovative shots. One of the shots that Pant played was the lap shot to the fine leg boundary of the spin bowler. It will be a welcome relief for the Indian fans with so much Test cricket set to be played.

Massive stars set to play Duleep Trophy

The 2024 Duleep Trophy season is set to start on 5th September. India A will face India B while India C and India D will kick off the opening round of matches. It was confirmed on Monday that Suryakumar Yadav is set to miss the first round due to injury.

This year some of the biggest stars will be taking part in the competition. Apart from pant, the likes of KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer will be taking part. One of the bowlers who will be missing the tournament is young pace sensation Mayank Yadav.

Sonnet coach Devendra Sharma while speaking to Times of India about Mayank Yadav said, “Like in the morning, he is made to bowl, followed by rehab session and exercise routine. After this, he again bowled in the nets. All of this is something which he is doing there on a daily basis, as per what he told me.”

Devendra Sharma also said, “He bowls 8-10 overs daily, and I did ask him why he wasn’t named in the Duleep Trophy squads. To this, Mayank replied ‘ Sir I have been told not to go into it as I can't put too much load on my body and concentrate on white-ball career for now.”
