Star India wicketkeeper-batter and vice-captain Rishabh Pant achieved a big milestone as a wicketkeeper in his illustrious Test career. He completed his 150th catch behind the wickets while dismissing star England batter Ollie Pope off Prasidh Krishna on the third day of the ongoing first Test in Leeds.
The moment came quite early in the start of the third day on the first ball of the 52nd over, when Ollie Pope ended up edging Prasidh Krishna’s delivery to the hands of Rishabh Pant behind the wickets. Pant made no mistake in collecting the ball successfully to dismiss Ollie Pope.
It happened to be the 150th catch in Rishabh Pant’s impressive Test career of 86 innings of 44 matches. He has also become only the third Indian wicketkeeper to take the highest number of catches in the longest format of the game. He is just nine catches behind former legendary Indian wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani to become the second most successful wicketkeeper for India in Tests.
The video of Ollie Pope’s dismissal, which became the 150th catch as wicketkeeper for Pant in Tests, is also making rounds on social media as soon as official broadcasters have shared it on X (formerly Twitter).
