It was a pleasing sight for Team India as left-handed batter Rinku Singh ended his drought with the bat. The left-handed batter scored 53 runs from 29 balls during the 2nd T20I game against Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Rinku Singh got to his fifty with a cheeky shot against Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

The Bangladeshi pacer went for a low full toss as Rinku went down low. The left-handed batter tried to play the paddle scoop shot but only got a top edge. The power behind the shot though was too much and the ball went sailing for a six. Once he reached his fifty, Rinku seemed happy and relieved.

Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir in particular will be overjoyed. The left-handed batter from Uttar Pradesh is a key player for India in the T20 format. Both the captain and coach will want Rinku to find his best rhythm as they look to prepare for the 2026 T20I World Cup.

Bangladeshi bowlers left shell-shocked by Indian counterattack

Taskin Ahmed began by getting rid of Sanju Samson for 10 caught by Najmul Shanto. The next man to go was Abhishek Sharma as he lost his off-pole to Tanzim Sakib for 15 runs. Just when the fans in New Delhi were waiting for a SKY special, the Indian skipper failed to get going as he was out for 8 falling to Mustafizur Rahman.

From 41/3, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh added 108 runs for the 4th wicket. Their stand came off just 48 balls as the two batters went after the Bangladeshi bowlers. Nitish Kumar Reddy in particular was the most aggressive batter as he smashed 7 huge sixes in his knock.

The 21-year-old got to his 1st half-century in India colours much to the delight of the jam-packed stadium. Mustafizur Rahman broke the stand when he had Nitish caught by Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Nitish Reddy got his runs from 34 balls as he hit four boundaries in his knock.

India then saw Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag add 28 runs for the 6th wicket in 2 overs. The home team went past 200 runs and this was the first time they had posted such a score against Bangladesh. Hardik Pandya scored 32 runs from 19 balls before he holed out to Mehidy Miraz to give Rishad Hossain his 1st wicket. Riyan Parag hit 15 off 6 balls with 2 sixes but fell to Tanzim Sakib as Mahmudullah took a fine catch. The home team ended their innings at 221/9 from their 20 overs.
