Ravindra Jadeja brought India back into the contest during the first day of the final game in Mumbai. The 35-year-old got the wickets of Will Young and Tom Blundell in a space of four balls. At one stage the visitors were cruising at 159/3 before the Kiwis were jolted by the Indian spinner.
Tom Blundell had faced two balls in the 45th over of the innings. Ravindra Jadeja pitched the ball on the leg stump. The ball turned long away and hit the top of the off stump. Blundell was stunned as he looked at the turn that Jadeja had extracted from the wicket.
Talk about striking in a quick succession! ⚡️ ⚡️

It was a huge wicket for India on a hot day in Mumbai where both teams were struggling with the heat. The 35-year-old broke the 87-run stand for the 4th wicket that came off 24.2 overs. It was a frustrating stand for the Indian bowlers as Will Young and Daryl Mitchell mixed caution and aggression with equal measure.
Mumbai Test evenly poised on day one
Will Young batted well for 138 balls to score 71 runs with the help of four boundaries and two sixes. In the second ball of the 45th over, Jadeja bowled the delivery slower and the ball defeated the batter in the air. Will Young was out when the ball took the edge of the bat as Rohit Sharma took an easy catch.
Daryl Mitchell trusted his defense a lot more as he put the Indian bowlers under pressure. The veteran Kiwi batter braved the heat in Mumbai and was cramping during his innings. The batter took a single to complete a great fifty for his side.
Washington Sundar struck with the wickets of Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra. The 25-year-old had picked 11 wickets in the last game. His best of 7/59 was his first-ever fifer in the longest format of the game.
Team India made just one change as Mohammed Siraj came in for Jasprit Bumrah. New Zealand made two changes to their side with Ish Sodhi and Matt Henry coming in for Mitchell Santner and Tim Southee. Former skipper Kane Williamson was already ruled out of the game due to his groin injury.
