New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell lost his cool with the constant chirping by Sarfaraz Khan. The 27-year-old has been constantly at the ears of the Kiwi batters on the first day of the third Test match in Mumbai on Friday. With the young Indian batter at it constantly, Mitchell made his way to the umpires and complained.

The incident occurred at the start of the 32nd over, just as Ravindra Jadeja was getting ready to bowl. Umpire Richard Illingworth could be seen having a word with Sarfaraz as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma entered the fray. The 37-year-old could be seen making his points and wasn’t impressed with the telling off his teammate had received.

Former India skipper Virat Kohli too joined in the fray as the matters started to escalate. Virat Kohli could be seen having a chat with the umpire before making his way to Mitchell. The Kiwi star batter could be seen telling Kohli something before the two players settled the issue with a fist bump.

Earlier in the day, Sarfaraz Khan could be seen getting aggressive with Rachin Ravindra. Washington Sundar’s terrific ball dismissed the Kiwi batter as Sarfaraz gave him a send-off. India’s young batting sensation had his arms out wide before muttering something to the batter who was walking off the park.

Will Young frustrates Indian bowlers post lunch

New Zealand went into lunch at 92/3 from 27 overs with Washinton Sundar taking two wickets. Akash Deep got India underway with the huge wicket of Devon Conway out LBW for 4. It was a huge moment for India who had seen Conway score half-centuries in the opening two games of the series.

Washington Sundar then struck twice removing Tom Latham for 28 and Rachin Ravindra for five runs. At that stage, the score read 72/3 but Will Young batted well as he scored a measured fifty. The conditions weren’t helping the players as well with the humidity in Mumbai sapping the energy.

At the time of writing, New Zealand were 125/3 in the 36th over. Daryl Mitchell was batting on 18 runs with Will Young on 58. The pair had added 53 runs for the 4th wicket from 100 balls to frustrate the Indian bowlers.
