Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening batters Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma got off to a great start in their IPL 2025 game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The visitors were chasing a massive target of 225-runs to not only win the game but also keep their playoff hopes alive. Prasidh Krishna was brought into bowl the fifth over of the innings and Aussie batter Travis Head hit the pacer for a four in the third ball.

In the very next ball, the pacer bowled a short ball and Travis Head went for a pull shot. Rashid Khan kept his eyes on the ball and covered a lot of ground before he took a tumbling catch. Travis Head was out after scoring 20 runs from 16 balls with the help of four boundaries. Once the catch was completed each and every GT player rushed to Rashid Khan and congratulated him for the fine piece of fielding.

Gujarat Titans were asked to bat first by Pat Cummins and the home managed to score 224 on the board. Sai Sudharsan began well by scoring 48 runs to take control of the orange cap once more. Skipper Shubman Gill was out for 76 off just 38 balls while Jos Buttler scored 64 off 37 balls.

Abhishek Sharma keeps SRH in the hunt with key fifty

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma got off the mark with a massive six off Mohammed Siraj with his very first ball of the innings. Travis Head also played a crunching shot in the same over as Siraj conceded 15 runs to help SRH get off to a flier. Ishant Sharma was hit for ten runs in his opening over as Abhishek ended the over with a massive six.

The next two overs produced 20 runs as SRH suddenly were putting a brave fight with the bat. By the end of six overs, SRH had reached 57 for one with Abhishek Sharma batting with aggressive intent. Ishan Kishan on the other hand found the going tough as he scored at a strike rate less than 100.

Former Mi pacer Gerald Coetzee finally ended Kishan’s misery in the third ball of the 10th over. Kishan tried to hit the ball across and got a leading edge that flew to third man and Prasidh Krishna took an easy catch. The batter was out after scoring 13 runs from 17 balls without any boundaries. Abhishek Sharma reached his fifty off 28 balls with a six off Coetzee in the 12th over.
