Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to take the attack to Delhi Capitals (DC) seamer Mitchell Starc in the Indian Premier League game on Wednesday. The left-handed batter who has been showing inconsistent form with the bat so far came out to bat with aggressive intent in his mind. RR were set 189 runs to win DC and by the end of five overs, RR were placed at 50 for no loss.

In the third ball of Starc’s second over, the Aussie pacer bowled a short ball at Jaiswal and the batter seemed ready. The 23-year-old hit the ball deep in to the backward square leg region for a massive six. Starc could only look in despair as Jaiswal seemed intent on taking down Delhi’s premier pacer.
Earlier in the day, Delhi were put into bat first and ended up with 188 runs on the board. Abhishek Porel was the top scorer for DC with 49 off 37 balls while KL Rahul hit 38 off 32 balls. Axar Patel then scored a quick fire 34 before Tristan Stubbs ended the innings with his unbeaten 34 which came off 18 balls with two fours and two sixes. ‘

Needing 189 runs to win the game, RR openers Jaiswal and skipper Sanju Samson began cautiously. The first over of the innings bowled by Starc went for just two runs. Mukesh Kumar came in as the impact player for DC and was hit for 14 runs in his opening over. Sanju Samson welcomed the pacer with a massive six over the square boundary.
In the same over, Jaiswal clobbered Kumar over the long-off fence for the second six off the over. Kumar’s opening over yielded 14 runs as RR batters got off to a terrific start. Starc’s second over went for 19 runs with Jaiswal hitting the pacer for two fours along with the massive six over square leg.
There was no stopping Samson as he hit Mukesh for what was his second six of the innings in the second ball of the fourth over. Mohit Sharma was asked to bowl the fifth over and the veteran pacer bowled well to give away just five runs from his over which also included a boundary.
