Delhi Capitals (DC) got off to a great start with the bat in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Abhishek Porel, who had scored 33 in the last game against Mumbai Indians, got off to yet another amazing start. The left-handed batter hit RR pacer Tushar Deshpande for 23 runs in the second over of the game.

Porel began the over with a splendid four over the mid-wicket region and followed it up with yet another over four that went to the third-man region. In the third ball of the over, Deshpande saw Porel flick the ball over the square region for the first six of the game. The right-arm seamer then bowled a slower ball that was hit for yet another four.

On the penultimate ball of the over, Porel pulled the ball disdainfully for the fourth boundary of the over. Having scored 22 runs in the first five balls of the over, Porel nudged the ball for a single to end the over on a high. In the first over of the innings, Jake Fraser-McGurk hit Jofra Archer for two fours to get Delhi off to a great start.

Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first as both teams went into the game unchanged. Jake Fraser-McGurk who had scored a golden duck in the last game seemed up for the challenge. Just when the Australian batter was looking dangerous, McGurk mistimed a shot off Archer and was dismissed for nine runs caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Karun Nair who had scored 89 runs in the last game was run-out for a duck after miscommunication with Porel. It was a disappointing end to Nair’s innings who would have hoped to do well with the bat against the Royals and justify his inclusion in the side.

RR bowlers managed to make their way back into the contest as they restricted DC to just 46 for two at the end of the powerplay overs. KL Rahul came out to bat with intent and hit Deshpande for a huge six straight down the ground. At the end of the first time-out the home team were placed at 60 for two after eight overs with Porel batting on 34 and Rahul on 17.
