The PBKS head coach Ricky Ponting was recently seen performing a traditional Puja ceremony ahead of the team’s campaign in the Indian Premier League 2025. He was also joined by the other PBKS members, including the staff and a few players as well.
The video of Ricky Ponting performing Puja is also making rounds on social media as soon as it was shared by a user on X (formerly Twitter).

Punjab Kings, under the captaincy of their newly-appointed skipper Shreyas Iyer, will start their journey in the IPL 2025 with their campaign opener against the Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, March 25. The game will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Meanwhile, a few days back, Ponting cleared his approach while speaking about Punjab Kings’ prospects in the tournament’s 18th edition.
“Yes, I was talking to a few teams, but it was "Project Punjab" which attracted me. It is a team that hasn't had a lot of success over a long period of time, a team that's changed coaches a lot, so I saw it as a challenge. The other exciting part is that I saw some really exciting youngsters last year at Kings that hopefully, we can attract back to the team for this season and put together a team that is going to be good enough to win the IPL,” said Ponting.
“I mean, there's no doubting over the years that the Kings have had good players, have had good teams. They just haven't been able to win it yet. I have a longish-term deal there, and hopefully, during that period of time we can win the IPL,” he added later.
Notably, the former Australia skipper has signed a contract with Punjab Kings till the 2027 edition of the Indian Premier League. The team will be hoping to win their first-ever IPL title under Ponting’s coaching.
