Trinbago Knight Riders began their Caribbean Premier League in style thanks to Nicholas Pooran who scored 97. Counted as one of the best T20 batters in the world, the left-handed batter got his runs from a mere 43 balls. His knock included 7 fours and 9 huge sixes to help Trinbago score a massive 250 on the board.

Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots put up a grand fight as they scored 206 runs on the board. This was their first loss after starting their campaign with a 1-wicket win over Antigua and Barbuda.

It was the home team skipper Andre Fletcher who had won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision backfired as the visiting side from Trinidad made full use of the best batting conditions early in the game.

Sunil Narine began attacking the Patriots bowlers as he scored 38 runs from just 19 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. The opening stand between Narine and Jason Roy yielded 44 runs before Ryan John dismissed Narine. Anrich Nortje then went past the defence of Jason Roy for 6 to leave the Knight Riders at 51 for 2.

Tabraiz Shamsi struck the third blow of the day when he had Shaqkere Parris out for 13. From there onwards, it was Nicholas Pooran and Keacy Carty shown as the pair who added 122 runs for the 4th wicket.

Keacy Karty was not out on 73 off 35 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Kieron Pollard scored 7 off 6 balls as Trinbago ended their innings at 250. Chasing 251 to win, the home team lost Andre Fletcher and Kyle Mayers early.

Evin Lewis and Mikyle Louis then added 54 runs for the third wicket to keep the home team in the hunt, this stand was broken when Waqar Salamkheil bowled out Lewis for 39.

Louis was joined by Tristan Stubbs as the pair added 70 runs for the 4th in 7 overs. With the match on an even keel Sunil Narine and Terrence Hinds dismissed the set pair to turn the course of the game and help TKR win by 44 runs.
