Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Nicholas Pooran hit his strides early with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Delhi Capitals. The left-handed batter was batting on 17 runs from six balls as he got ready to play debutant spin bowler Vipraj Nigam. The young spinner was already hammered for two sixes by Pooran in the previous two balls of the over.

The young spinner then bowled a short ball outside the off stump that Pooran tried to hit out of the ground. West Indian batter could only get a thick edge that flew to former Chennai Super Kings player Sameer Rizvi who was fielding at backward point. Just when it seemed that Pooran was dismissed, Rizvi dropped an easy chance much to the shock of his teammates. 

In the very next ball, Pooran got down on his knees and sent the ball over the long on region for a huge six. 25 runs were scored from the over off Vipraj Nigan who had got the wicket of Aiden Makram earlier. The South African batter after scoring 15 runs from 13 balls with one four and a six. 

Mitchell Marsh falls after scoring quickfire 72 on his LSG debut

Australian batter Mitchell Marsh scored his fastest fifty in the IPL as he reached the mark off just 21 balls. Marsh began his innings with a six against Mitchell Starc before smashing his Australian teammate for a six and two fours in the third over of the innings. 

Marsh, who was associated with Delhi Capitals till last year made his debut memorable for LSG. The 33-year-old was out after scoring 72 runs from just 36 balls with the help of six boundaries and equal number of sixes. Mukesh Kumar’s slower ball saw Marsh hit the ball straight into the waiting hands of Tristan Stubbs who made no mistake. 

Nicholas Pooran welcomed Tristan Stubbs to the bowling crease with a four and followed it up with a six. The left-handed batter took just 24 balls to reach his half-century having been dropped by Rizvi earlier in the innings when he was batting on 17 runs.
