Lucknow Super Giants' terrific start with the bat
The first two overs of the game saw just 12 runs being scored as LSG openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram took time to settle down. Skipper Axar Patel bowling the second over conceded just five runs after Starc’s opening over had gone for seven runs. Carnage began in the third over as Starc was hit for 21 runs to set the wheels in motion for Lucknow.
In the first ball of the third over, Markram made room and hit Starc over the long off region for a huge six. Mitchell Marsh then took strike in the third ball and promptly hit his Australian teammate for a boundary. This was followed by a six just like the shot he had played in the previous. The fifth ball of the over yielded yet another four as Marsh moved to 20 off just eight balls.
Debutant Vipraj Nigam then gave Delhi Capitals their first wicket when he dismissed Markram for 15 runs. The South African batter went for a huge hit and didn’t time the ball well and was caught by Starc who was stationed at long-off. At the end of the six overs, Lucknow had reached 64 runs for the loss of one wicket with Marsh leading the way with the bat.
