Star Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah made the headlines for one of the moments he was involved in during the first ODI of a three-match series between New Zealand and Pakistan in Napier. The incident happened during the second innings when the Men in Green were chasing down the target of 345 runs posted by New Zealand.
This moment came when Naseem Shah was standing at the boundary line and Pakistan fans were cheering with his name while some of the fans were also asking for selfies with him. In the same line of events, the fans were also seen throwing their fans towards Naseem for selfies and the cricketer started keeping the mobile phones one by one in the pockets of his trousers.
The video of this moment involving Naseem Shah also started making rounds on social media as soon as it was shared by a user on X (formerly Twitter).
Here’s the video:
Mo Abbas was 4(3) at 288/5 when he skied a pull to deep square leg. Naseem Shah grassed what looked like an absolute sitter. Abbas went on to score 52(26)* on debut, taking his team to 344 in the process.

Notably, one of the dropped catches by Naseem Shah also happened to cost a lot for Pakistan in the first ODI against New Zealand. He dropped the catch of NZ’s Pakistan-born debutant batter, Muhammad Abbas when he was at the individual score of just 4 runs off 3 balls and New Zealand had scored 288 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.
But Naseem’s dropped catch gave life to Abbas, and he went on to smash a blistering 52 runs off just 26 balls, with three fours and three sixes, with a sensational strike rate of 200.00. This decisive knock also helped the Blackcaps post a big total of 344 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Speaking of his performance, Naseem Shah also failed to deliver a good performance with the ball, scalping only 1 wicket at the cost of 60 runs in his 10-over stint.
Eventually, Pakistan lost the ODI series opener by 73 runs after getting bundled out at the score of 271 runs in response to the 344-run total scored by the hosts.
