Former winners Mumbai Indians will play their final three games in the next ten days. The men in blue and gold are currently 10th in the table having won just three matches out of the 11 that they have played so far. It hasn't been a great season in the Indian Premier League for Hardik Pandya and his men.
Former Mumbai Indians legend Kieron Pollard is currently with the team as their batting coach. During his time with the team, he was not only known for his explosive batting but also was known to be a safe fielder.
The 36-year-old was helping the players get ready for the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad with some fielding drills. One such drill saw Pollard show his agility and use his presence of mind to take a catch near the boundary rope. Kieron Pollard could be seen with his eyes on the ball keeping his balance along with keeping the ball in play and taking the catch.
Mumbai Indians looking to avoid the wooden spoon spot
In their illustrious IPL journey, Mumbai Indians have finished 10th just once and that was during the IPL 2022 season. The former champions will play Sunrisers Hyderabad at home on Monday before playing Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. The final game of the season is at home against Lucknow Super Giants on the 17th of May.
Former Indian test player Deep Dasgupta while speaking to Star Sports India had this to say about Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma “You are playing for the pride of the team, you are playing as a professional cricketer and you are playing for your pride as well. You don't want to play a game and not want to perform. Every time, you cross the line, you want to do your best”
The IPL 2024 season has been difficult for Mumbai Indians as the captaincy saga had stolen the headlines even before the season began. Hardik Pandya’s return to the team hasn’t paid rich dividends as he has failed to enthuse the team and help them win their 6th title.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, there is set to be a mega-auction. Rohit Sharma has been touted to leave Mumbai Indians if the entire drama with the team isn’t sorted. With most players playing for a spot in the team ahead of the auction next year, the game on Monday is crucial for most of the Mumbai Indians players.
