The ‘down and out’ and ‘eliminated’ Chennai Super Kings finally got rid of their losing streak and registered their third win in the ongoing IPL 2025, beating the defending champions KKR by a narrow 2-wicket margin in the 57th game of the tournament. With this win, CSK have pushed the holders to the brink of an exit from the tournament.
Meanwhile, what attracted the headlines after CSK’s win was the heartfelt gesture for the young KKR pacer Chetan Sakariya while exchanging the post-match greetings. The CSK skipper and legendary wicketkeeper-batter was seen waiting for Sakariya to shake hands with him; Dhoni was also seen saying to his teammate Anshul Kamboj about that young KKR pacer left out to shake hands.
The video of MS Dhoni waiting for the young KKR pacer to shake hands and finally greeting him by shaking hands also went viral on social media as soon as it was shared by a user on X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of the action of the match, the hosts’ skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and asked his batters to take the charge first. Batting first, KKR posted a decent total of 179 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Skipper Rahane himself played a brilliant knock of 48 runs off just 33 balls, with four fours and two sixes. Following him, Manish Pandey and Andre Russell also played the crucial knocks of 36 and 38 runs off 28 and just 21 balls.
Star CSK spinner Noor Ahmad bowled an amazing spell, scalping 4 wickets at 31 runs in his 4 overs in the first innings. Besides him, Anshul Kamboj and Ravindra Jadeja also claimed a wicket each for their side in the first half of the game.
While chasing the target, CSK were struggling at the moment after losing 5 wickets at the score of just 60 runs in 5.2 overs. But then came a decisive and match-winning knock of young batter Dewald Brevis, who smashed 52 runs off just 25 balls, with four fours and four sixes. It also included his 30 runs off Vaibhav Arora in an over, during the 11th over of the CSK innings.
Eventually, CSK chased down the target in 19.4 overs, scoring 183 runs for the loss of 8 wickets and winning the game by 2 wickets. MS Dhoni and Anshul Kamboj went unbeaten with the individual scores of 17 and 4 runs, respectively, to help CSK win this game.
