Former IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and their fans finally had something to cheer about. The five-time IPL winners beat table-toppers Gujarat Titans by 83 runs to secure their fourth win of the season. MS Dhoni stole the show as the former India skipper was playing his final game of the season amidst rumours of his playing future.
Known to keep his cool on the field, Dhoni, perhaps captaining for the final time in the season, was seen getting frustrated. One fan captured a moment where Dhoni was seen changing the field in the second innings. The 43-year-old was trying to get the attention of his fielders but could only droop his shoulders in frustration.
The short video also showed Dhoni frantically move his arms around. In the final part of the video, the CSK skipper could be seen throwing up his hands as if to show his helplessness. Even in the post-game interaction, MS Dhoni was seen lamenting about the efforts on the field against the Titans on Sunday and also throughout the season.
Dewald Brevis and Ayush Mhatre emerge as huge positives for CSK
After a winning start to the IPL 2025 season, CSK went oon tolose their next few games. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Gurjapneet Singh’s injuries meant that, Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis were signed as the replacement players. Brevis, was named the player of the game for his quickfire fifty on Sunday.
The South African batter ended the season with 225 runs in the IPL 2025 season from just six games. Brevis hit two fifties this season to show his talent and class with the bat. CSK will be hoping to retain the youngster ahead of the new season and make Brevis part of the franchise as a part of the rebuild process.
Ayush Mhatre is another player that CSK will be keen to hang onto ahead of the 2026 season. The young batter scored 34 off just 17 balls and took his season tally to 240 runs from seven games. Mhatre’s best knock of 94 came in the close loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which CSK lost by two runs.
