Indian Cricket star Mohammed Shami is gearing up for his comeback to the game with some quality time in the nets. The 33-year-old has been out of action since November when he played a stellar role in Indiaโ€™s run to the finals. It is expected that Shami will be part of the national side for the Test series against Bangladesh.ย

Mohammed Shami posted a short video of himself batting in the nets. The right-arm pacer can be seen playing a few defensive shots. This was followed by a few huge hits against the spinners in the nets as he used his feet well to get to the pitch of the ball.ย

The first Test against Bangladesh is set to kick off on the 19th of September. Chennai will host the game with the second match to be played in Kanpur. This will be followed by a three-match series against New Zealand in what will be the second half of Indiaโ€™s home season in 2024.ย

Mohammed Shami: Key player for India in the run-up to WTC finals qualifications

Indian pace bowler Mohammed Shami will be a key player for India with the ball in the next few months. After the home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, the Indian Cricket team will tour Australia.ย

Rohit Sharma will hope that his team can come up with the right results to be in the hunt for the World Test Championship finals spot. Indian national selector Ajit Agarkar had recently spoken about the fitness status of Mohammed Shami.ย

Ajit Agarkar was quoted by ESPN CRICINFO as saying โ€œWe more or less know who the guys are, there are some injuries at the moment and hope they will be back upโ€. The 33-year-old was the best bowler for India during the 2023 ODI World Cup with 24 wickets.ย

The chief of selector also said โ€œShami has started to bowl which is a good sign. September 19 is the first Test and that was always the goal. I don't know if that is his timeline for recovery, will have to ask the guys at the NCA about thatโ€

"There are so many Tests coming. We will need some depth. Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj have been around for a while, these are the obvious ones. But there will be some conversation around it. Got a lot of first-class cricket coming up so we can build guys up like that." Said Ajit Agarkar.ย
