Mohammed Shami's contribution to India in red-ball and white-ball cricket has been incredible. He is a match-winner and will always be remembered for his lethal bowling, which scared even the best batters of the world. However, not many are aware of his struggles during the days when he was going through his divorce and separation from his daughter.

On top of this, he was also accused of match-fixing, which took a toll on Shami's mental health. While Shami was vocal about his struggles, his friend Umesh Kumar revealed a few things that were quite shocking and heartbreaking at the same time. He also said Shami was about to jump from the 19th floor then.

"Shami was fighting with everything during that phase, but when fixing allegations with Pakistan broke and led to a probe that night, he was shattered. He said he couldn't tolerate allegations of betraying my country. It was around 4 AM in the morning when I got up to drink water. I was on my way to the kitchen when I saw that he was standing on the balcony. It was the 19th floor we were living in. I understood what happened. That night of Shami's career, I feel, was the longest," said Umesh Kumar in a podcast with Youtuber Shubhankar Mishra.

Shubman Gill is a work in progress: Ashish Nehra

Meanwhile, India's former pacer Ashish Nehra talked about the importance of Hardik Pandya in the Indian team. He mentioned the role of Shubman Gill in the upcoming years as he is young and should be ready to take on any responsibility. Now, Gill is the vice-captain of white-ball cricket, which is a good thing if he can prove his worth.

“Shubman Gill is a work in progress. He is 24-25 years old now. He will get better as we go ahead. He has the desire to play all 3 formats, he has the heart to learn. He is not someone who thinks that whatever he is doing is right. He is not that kind of guy. Be it a youngster or an experienced player, he likes to have a discussion and learn," said Ashish Nehra to Sports Tak.
