Friday night saw yet another amazing game in the Hundred 2024 edition. It was the NS Chargers taking on the Invincibles at the famous Oval stadium. New Zealand star Mitchell Santner grabbed the headlines with his breathtaking effort to dismiss Sam Curran.

The incident occurred in the 54th ball of the chase with the Invincibles batting. Matthew Short bowled a floated ball that Sam Curran came down the track to. The English star timed the ball well and it seemed certain to go all the way to the boundary.

That’s when Mitchell Santner could be seen running and making huge ground and diving in front and completing the catch. It was a marvellous effort that got a huge ovation from the capacity crowd watching the game.

Northern Superchargers batted first and scored 145/5 from their 100 deliveries. Spencer Johnson got the first wicket of the day for the home team when he dismissed Graham Clark for a six-ball duck.

Matthew Short then fell to Sam Curran after scoring 20 runs while Harry Brook was out to Adam Zampa for 6. Adam Hose and Nicholas Pooran added 31 runs for the 4th wicket in 24 balls before Hose was out for 18.

The star with the bat for Northern Superchargers was West Indian batter Nicholas Pooran who scored 65 runs. His unbeaten knock came off 41 balls with 4 boundaries and 4 sixes. Ollie Robinson gave him good support to score 20 runs off 14 balls to take the side to 145.

Will Jacks was the first wicket to fall for the home team as he was out for 7 dismissed by Jordan Clark. It was then the turn of the spin trio of Adil Rashid, Matthew Short, and Mitchell Santner to run riot. Rashid began by dismissing Jordan Cox for 7 while Santner got Sam Billings for 2 and Short got the wicket of Sam Curran.

Adil Rashid wasn’t done though as he got the key scalp of Dawid Malan for 17. South African Donovan Ferriera tried to stage a comeback as he scored 49 with the bat. His knock came off 24 balls with two fours and 5 huge sixes.

Matthew Potts ended the hopes for an Invincibles win as he dismissed Ferriera and Tom Curran before Jordan Clark cleaned up Zampa for 2. Northern Supercharges won the game by 19 runs to take home crucial points after the 12th game of the campaign.
