Star MI-W all-rounder Amelia Kerr stunned everyone with her sensational catch near the boundary line to dismiss Gujarat Giants Women’s Dayalan Hemalatha. The sensational catch was taken by Kerr in the fifth game of the ongoing Women’s Premier League 2025 (WPL 2025).

The moment came on the third ball of the fourth over in the first innings when MI-W’s Hayley Matthews was bowling to Dayalan Hemalatha. The GG-W batter played it across the line, getting a good height and distance but it was Amelia Kerr on the fence who ended up Hemalatha’s short stint of only 9 runs off 11 balls.

Speaking of the action of the game, the MI-W skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and asked the Giants Women to bat first. Batting first, Ashleigh Gardner and Co. were bundled out at the score of just 120 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Harleen Deol (32 runs) and Kashvee Gautam (20 runs) were the only two batters to show some intent amidst a batting collapse for their side.

Hayley Matthews scalped 3 wickets at just 16 runs in her four overs for MI. Besides Matthews, star all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr also bagged two wickets each, alongside a wicket each picked by Shabnim Ismail and Amanjot Kaur.

While chasing the target, Mumbai Indians Women comfortably crossed the line in 16.1 overs and won the game by 5 wickets, scoring 122 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. After shining with the ball, Nat Sciver-Brunt also played a brilliant half-century knock, scoring 57 runs off 39 balls, with 11 fours.

Hayley Matthews won the  ‘Player of the Match’ award for her match-winning bowling performance for MI-W in the first innings.
