Gujarat Giants Women and the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women are playing each other in the tournament opener of the ongoing WPL 2025. The game is being played at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana won the toss and asked the Giants Women to bat first.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Giants skipper Ashleigh Gardner displayed her batting excellence in the first innings, smashing 79 runs off just 37 balls, with three fours and eight massive sixes.
In the same line of events, she also smashed three successive sixes off RCB’s Prema Rawat in the 14th over of the game on the third, fourth and fifth ball of the over. The video of these three amazing sixes in a row smashed by Gardner also made rounds on social media as soon as it was shared by WPL on their official X handle (formerly Twitter)

Speaking of the ongoing action of the WPL 2025 opener between RCB-W and GG-W, Ashleigh Gardner and co dominated the RCB bowlers and posted a big total of 201 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener and wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney scored 56 runs off 42 balls, with eight fours followed by skipper Gardner’s 79 off just 37 balls.
Later in the middle order, Diandra Dottin also played a quick cameo of 25 runs off just 13 balls, with three fours and a six.
Renuka Singh Thakur scalped 2 wickets at 25 runs in her 4 overs, alongside a wicket each bagged by Kanika Ahuja, Georgia Wareham, and Prema Rawat.
While chasing the target, RCB had a shaky start as they lost 2 wickets at the score of 15 runs in 2.1 overs at the time of filling this. Both the openers, Danni Wyatt and skipper Smriti Mandhana have been dismissed at the individual score of 9 and 4 runs, respectively.
GG-W skipper Ashleigh Gardner has also shone with the ball, scalping both the wickets and conceding only 1 run in her first over.
