Mumbai Indians Women bowlers completely outmuscled the Gujarat Giants Women batters in the first innings of the ongoing WPL 2025’s fifth game. The MI-W’s trio of Nat Sciver-Brunt, Shabnim Ismail, and Hayley Matthews dismissed four GG-W batters just in the powerplay phase of the first innings.

GG-W’s openers, Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt were dismissed at the team’s score of 14 runs in 2.5 overs by Nat Sciver-Brunt and Shabnim Ismail. The video of the dismissal moments of both the GG-W openers also went viral on social media as soon as it was shared by WPL on their official X handle (formerly Twitter).

Speaking of the action of the game between GG-W and MI-W, the Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and asked the Giants to bat first. While batting first, Ashleigh Gardner and co. failed to crack the code of MI bowling and got bundled out at the score of just 120 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Middle-order batter Harleen Deol was the leading run-scorer with 32 runs off 31 balls, with four fours. Besides him, it was Kashvee Gautam who crossed the individual mark of 20+ runs, scoring 20 runs off 15 balls, with two fours and a six.

Hayley Matthews bowled the most economical and productive spell for MI-W in the first innings; she scalped 3 wickets at just 16 runs in 4 overs, with an amazing economy rate of 4.00. Besides her, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr also claimed two wickets each, alongside a wicket each bagged by Shabnim Ismail and Amanjot Kaur.

While chasing the target, the Mumbai Indians Women had scored 63 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 10 overs, with Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr there in the middle at the individual scores of 30 and 2 runs, respectively. 
Tanuja Kanwar, Priya Mishra, and Kashvee Gautam had scalped a wicket each for GG-W in the second innings.
