WATCH: Manav Suthar’s terrific catch ends Axar Patel’s spirited knock during Duleep Trophy 2024

Manav Suthar grabs an amazing catch to dismiss Indian Cricket star Axar Patel during the India C vs India D game during the Duleep Trophy 2024 on Thursday.

Indian star player Axar Patel played a lone hand with 86 for India D in their first innings of the Duleep Trophy 2024. The 30-year-old scored his runs off 118 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. 

With the score reading 164, Axar Patel had Aditya Thakare for support. Hrithik Shokeen threw the ball in the air which saw Patel come down the track. The Indian star couldn’t time the ball well but it still looked like clearing the rope for a six.

That’s when Manav Suthar who was fielding in the boundary took an amazing catch. The young spinner flung himself near the boundary with both hands which saw Axar Patel’s innings ending on 86. India D were all out for 164 after being reduced to 48/6 at one stage.

Harshit Rana and Axar Patel turn the heat with the ball 

India C began their innings with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sai Sudharsan coming out to bat. Harshit Rana came out with all guns blazing as he dismissed both the opening batters. Sai Sudharsan was the first to go when he was caught by Atharva Taide for 7. Skipper Gaikwad was the next man out caught by KS Bharat off Rana for 5. 

Axar Patel then struck when he dismissed Aryan Juyal caught and bowled for 12. Rajat Patidar saw his bad form in red-ball cricket continue as his stumps were disturbed by Patel for 13. 

At the time of writing, India C were 62/4 with Baba Indrajith on 8 off 13 balls. Abhishek Porel was batting on 12 runs from 14 balls with all his runs coming in boundaries. India C are still trailing by 102 runs with 6 wickets in hand. 

Earlier in the day, India batters Shreyas Iyer and Devdutt Padikkal were out early. The India D skipper scored 9 runs while Padikkal was out for a duck. Both the batters were accounted for by Vijaykumar Vyshak. The right-arm pacer bowled 12 overs and picked 3/19. Anshul Kamboj and Himanshu Rana picked 2 wickets each while Manav Suthar and Hrithik Shokeen picked a wicket each.
