Former India all-rounder and now the famous broadcaster Ravi Shastri has turned 62 today (May 27). He was recently in action in his ‘commentary stint’ during the just-concluded IPL 2024, the final of which was played yesterday May 26 between KKR and SRH. Shastri was also an important part of the IPL 2024 Final’s post-match presentation where he interviewed all the award winners.

Meanwhile, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) shared an amazing video in which Shastri’s colleagues and co-commentators during IPL 2024 came up with special birthday wishes for him by mimicking his voice in a very different style.

Notably, the 62-year-old is known for his energetic commentary, with an exciting and loud tempo; he has been the voice of some historic moments for Team India, including the 2007 T20 World Cup win and the ODI World Cup 2011 win, including the iconic ‘six sixes in an over’ smashed by former India star Yuvraj Singh T20 WC 2007.

On Shastri’s 62nd birthday, BCCI posted a video which they captioned, “Not a toss update but… …one legendary and energetic birthday wishes for one legendary individual from his fellow commentators, Wishing a Happy Birthday to the legendary Mr Ravi Shastri.”

Here’s a look at the video posted by BCCI on Instagram:

Speaking of Ravi Shastri’s illustrious 11-year-long international career for India from 1981 to 1992, he played 80 Tests and 150 T20Is, scoring 3830 Test runs and 3108 ODI runs, with 11 Test centuries and 4 ODI centuries, respectively.

He had also some amazing numbers in First-Class cricket while playing Mumbai, with 245 appearances, scoring 13202 First-Class runs, with an average of 44.00, hitting 34 centuries and 66 half-centuries.

Coming back to the present, Ravi Shastri will now be active in his commentary stint during the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, in the USA and West Indies starting on June 1.
