Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch has slammed the comments made by Mumbai Indians coach Mark Boucher. It was a terrible Indian Premier League 2024 season for the five-time IPL winners as they finished last in the table.

Mark Boucher had come out and defended skipper Hardik Pandya who was one of the most controversial figures during the season. The decision to replace Rohit Sharma as the captain with Hardik Pandya saw Mumbai Indians management cop a lot of flak.

“It wasn't great hearing all the boos. Certainly, I felt sorry for Hardik as well. It's never nice to go through something like that” said Mark Boucher in one of the interviews as the season was done.

According to the Mumbai Indians coach, all the outside noise had a huge effect on Hardik Pandya. Mark Boucher said, “There's a lot of stuff going on around him that maybe clouded his thoughts every now and again, which I said is tough for him as a leader as well. He certainly had a lot of support within our dressing room but it's a tough thing to go through as a player."

Mark Boucher ended by saying, “There's a lot of sympathy for what he's going through. A lot of the stuff he is going through is, I think, uncalled for. It will certainly be a learning curve for Hardik as he grows in leadership”

Aaron Finch though wasn’t amused with the comments made by the MI coach and saw it as an excuse. According to the former Aussie skipper, there is a chance that there will be massive repercussions after the way Mumbai performed this year.

“There will be a lot of fallouts. It was a really disappointing campaign. The one thing that alarmed me slightly was Mark Boucher saying that the off-field issues clouded Hardik Pandya's decision-making on the field. That's the coach's job that you are crystal clear going out to each game,” he said.y

The former Aussie star also pinned the blame on Boucher and his inability to counter the situation and be prepared for it. “You should be so well planned and prepared that you thought through every scenario possible. So when it's time, one of the moves you discuss is well and truly thought out,” he added.
