The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the former Pakistan all-rounder, Shahid Afridi to become the latest brand ambassador for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 being hosted by the West Indies and the USA in June. Afridi has some great memories of the T20 World Cup as he was a part of the Pakistan squad that ran to the final in the first edition of the tournament and then lifted the trophy in the second edition.

"The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is an event that is very close to my heart. From being Player of the Tournament in the inaugural edition to lifting the trophy in 2009, some of my favourite career highlights have come from competing on this stage. I am particularly excited to witness the India v Pakistan fixture on 9 June. It is one of the great rivalries in sport and New York will be a fitting stage for this unmissable encounter between two great teams," said Afridi.

The star all-rounder's participation in both the World Cups was huge as he was the Player of the Tournament in 2007 and delivered some great performances in 2009 when they won the cup. Meanwhile, earlier, ICC have also announced Yuvraj Singh and Chris Gayle as the brand ambassador of the marquee event.
