The banter between two of the biggest stars, Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur, grabbed center stage before the Indian Premier League 2025's Match 16 between the Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants, with a video of the exchange becoming viral on social media. The Mumbai Indians posted a video of the exchange in which Rohit Sharma was seen talking on the field with former MI player and mentor Zaheer Khan and LSG's Shardul Thakur.
In the video, Rohit Sharma was seen approaching former India bowler Zaheer Khan to meet the current LSG instructor. Upon seeing Rohit, Thakur made a sarcastic remark. He said,"Rohit Sharma ek hi jan ho dekhne aate hain, The Lord (Rohit Sharma comes to see only one person, The Lord)." After a few seconds, Rohit Sharma said, “Khudko 'The Lord' bol raha hain." Later Thakur gave him a reply "Aur kya? Tune hi rakha hai naam," this reference made Rohit Sharma laugh.

Shardul Thakur was added to the LSG team as a replacement for Mohsin Khan. Earlier Mohsin Khan was sidelined for the season owing to injury. Since joining, he has been playing well and has been selected by the team to lead the bowling assault. In the three games played so far, he has claimed six wickets. His greatest show was against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he helped them win their first match of the season by taking four wickets.
Kieron Pollard backs Rohit Sharma for his poor form
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is having a hard time with his bat this season. In his three games as MI's opening batsman, he has only managed to score 21 runs. The five-time winners, who finished at the bottom of the league the previous season, will be hoping that Rohit can return to hitting large runs for his team in order to put them back in the running for the championship.
Kieron Pollard, the batting coach for MI, has, however, urged the Indian veteran to bounce back and start scoring huge runs. "I am sure we will be singing his praises when he comes and he gives us that big score and then we will be on the next hot topic," Pollard said during press conference ahead of LSG game.
