Pakistan were skittled out for just 157 in their second innings in the first Test match, which is being played in Multan. At one stage, the home team was placed at 106/2 before losing their final eight wickets for 51 runs.

Chasing 251 runs to win, the visitors had slumped to 54/5 in the 16th over, with Sajid Khan taking four wickets. Shan Masood’s side is now in the driver’s seat and are favourites to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Sajid Khan had dismissed Kraigg Braithwaite for 12 and followed it up with the wickets of Keacy Carty for six runs, Kavem Hodge for a duck and Mikyle Louis for 13 runs.

Earlier in the day, it was the Jomel Warrican show as he ran through the Pakistani batting line-up. The hosts came to bat in their second inning with an overall lead of 93 runs. Skipper Shan Masood and debutant Muhammad Hurraira began well by adding 67 runs for the first wicket in 15.4 overs.

Pakistani batting collapses once again

32-year-old Warrican broke the first wicket stand when he trapped Hurraira out LBW for 29 runs. The left-arm spinner then got the big wicket of Babar Azam out for five runs from 11 balls. Skipper Shan Masood kept going as he showed his attacking intent to score 52 runs from 70 balls.

The left-handed batter was run-out after misunderstanding with Kamran Ghulam. At that stage, Pakistan were placed at 106/3 before losing Saud Shakeel for two runs to give Warrican his third wicket.

Mohammad Rizwan was also out for two runs to put the hosts under huge pressure. The last hope for Pakistan was Kamran Ghulam, who was out for 27 runs and caught behind off Warrican to give the bowler his fifer. The left-arm spinner then dismissed Noman Ali and Sajid Khan to register his best Test figures and claim his maiden ten-wicket haul in a game.

Salman Agha was the last man out when he was caught by Louis to give Motie his first wicket of the innings. Pakistan had lost their last eight wickets for 51 runs in 19.2 overs to give some hope to the visiting side of a fightback.
