Former England captain Joe Root is known for his classical batting style. In the past four years, Root has emerged as the best batter in the Test format, shattering multiple records. He may not have been able to showcase his greatness in the white-ball format, but he is aiming to utilise his red-ball form in the other two formats as well.

Meanwhile, Root is currently in action in the ongoing SA20 league in South Africa. Playing for Paarl Royals, Root has already contributed a lot with his bat to the team. However, during a match against MI Cape Town on January 15, Root displayed his bowling skills to dismiss Gorge Linde. During the 16th over of the first innings, Root bowled a quick delivery from round the wicket. Linde attempted a sweep but missed, and the ball crashed into the stumps. He ended up with the figures of 24/1 in three overs.

Rassie van der Dussen's 91-run unbeaten knock goes in vain

Talking about the match, Paarl Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first. MI didn’t have a great start as they lost their opener Azmatullah Omarzai in the fifth over of the innings. However, Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks steadied the ship and stitched a 59-run stand for the second wicket.

Van der Dussen played an unbeaten knock of 91 runs but other batters were not able to contribute enough as MI ended up scoring only 158 runs after the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

Chasing the target, Lhuan-dre Pretorius provided a brilliant start for the Royals, helping the team score 50 runs inside the powerplay. Pretorius’ impressive 83-run knock, which included eight fours and three sixes, was enough to turn the game in the Royals' favour. Skipper David Miller ensured a comfortable finish, leading the team to a six-wicket victory with one over to spare.
